How To Get To Bali
Visa

You need a visa to get to Indonesia. You can either apply for an e-visa or Visa On Arrival. However, usually Visa On Arrival will have a very long queue, so it's better to apply online. The B1 Tourist visa costs IDR 500,000 (~GBP 23 or EUR 27).  You can apply on this website: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/

IIRC the immigration website only displays Indonesianized country names once you start the registration process. Here are some country translations:

  • Canada: Kanada

  • France: Prancis / Perancis

  • Germany: Jerman

  • India: India

  • Peru: Peru

  • Spain: Spanyol

  • UK: Inggris

  • USA: Amerika Serikat

Flights to Bali

Sadly, there are no direct flights from Europe to Denpasar, the capital city of Bali. The airport is called I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The most common routes from Europe include a  layover in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, or Singapore.

We recommend you arrive at least 2 days before the wedding, as you might experience a jetlag. Bali's timezone is GMT +8.

Getting around Bali

Pro tip: If you book an accommodation on Booking.com you can also book a taxi from and to the airport at a reasonable rate.

At the airport, you'll likely be approached by random people offering a taxi ride to your accommodation. Try and avoid these, as they're often unregulated and you might end up paying way more than you should.

Ride-hailing options: Download Grab or Gojek apps.

You can order a car ride or alternatively a bike ride from those apps. Bike ride = you ride along a driver on a motorbike, it is not like renting a bike for yourself. A bike ride may save you money and time in traffic, but unless you're used to South East Asian traffic, just book a car ride instead (car rides, including the usual taxi, are way cheaper than in Europe).

You can link your banking card to these apps, or you could also choose to pay cash to your driver.
